Feed grade magnesium oxide can also be used as a feed additive for dairy cows. The addition of 0.5% MgO in the feed can increase the milk production of dairy cows by 1.45%. In addition, magnesium ions, sodium ions, and potassium ions work synergistically to maintain the balance of osmotic pressure inside and outside the cell and reduce the cow's response to heat stress, thereby increasing the cow's summer feed intake and maintaining milk production.
