Magnesium Oxide Powder for Flue Gas Treatment

In energy plants or large steam production units, magnesium oxide can be used as a desulfurizer. When burning fuel oil or coal, sulfur dioxide (SO2) is generated, and then SO2 will be partially oxidized to sulfur trioxide (SO3). SO3 will form acid rain that is harmful for plants and the environment. Magnesium oxide is used to remove the SO3.

Magnesium oxide can also be used in producing MgO boards. It is a technologically advanced building material that offers superior performance in every category when compared to traditional wood, gypsum, and cement-based products.

In agriculture, MgO is commonly used as a supplement for magnesium-deficient soils, especially for crops such as citrus, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, and grass pastures.

For cows, adding 50–90 g of MgO or 0.5% of concentrate to their dairy cow diet can not only supplement the deficiency of magnesium in the diet and prevent the occurrence of magnesium deficiency, but it can also be an excellent rumen buffer to regulate rumen fermentation, increase the absorption of milk synthetic precursor by the mammary gland, and improve milk yield and milk fat rate.
