Magnesium Oxide Powder for Fuel Additives

Magnesium Oxide Powder is a white powder that is slightly soluble in water and is produced from raw magnesite. Magnesium oxide powder for fuel additives is used in the production of fuel and lubricant additives and specifically in the production of over-based magnesium sulphonates and carboxylates, which act as ash and corrosion management detergents (capture and pacification of vanadium, nickel, and sulfur compounds) in gas turbines and motors.

Magnesium oxide is also used as an oil drilling additive. Direct application of MgO to crude oil results in significant naphthenic acid removal and a lower total acidity of the oil, as evidenced by a decrease in RCOOH concentration as determined by FT-IR and a lower total acid number (TAN).

In agriculture, magnesium is an essential element for plant growth because it is the central core of the chlorophyll molecule in plant tissue. If Mg is deficient, the shortage of chlorophyll results in poor and stunted plant growth. Magnesium also helps to activate specific enzyme systems. Enzymes are complex substances that build, modify, or break down compounds as part of a plant's normal metabolism.
