Epsomite Salt

Epsomite salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, has a laxative effect on constipation. When the salt enters the intestinal tract, it will form a certain osmotic pressure, causing more liquid to enter the intestinal tract, causing the gastrointestinal motility to promote defecation and relieve the symptoms of constipation. The adverse reaction is also constipation, and the dosage should not be too much. It should be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

Epsomite salt can also be used as a blood pressure-lowering medicine, effectively relieve high blood pressure, and also have a choleretic effect, which can promote the function of the gallbladder. If it is abnormally fermented in the intestines, it can also be eaten with insecticides. If used topically, it also has anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling effects. Magnesium sulfate also depresses the central nervous system, has sedative and antispasmodic effects, and also relieves intracranial hypertension.

Studies show that epsomite salt can help regulate electrolytes in your body, ensuring proper functioning of the muscles, nerves, and enzymes. Magnesium is also known to be critical in the proper use of calcium, which serves as the main conductor of the electric impulses in your body.

In agriculture, epsomite salt is used as magnesium fertilizer. Magnesium sulfate is the main variety of magnesium fertilizer. It contains both magnesium and sulfur nutrients, which can significantly improve the yield and quality of crops. At the same time, it can also promote the absorption of silicon and phosphorus in crops.

As base fertilizer or topdressing fertilizer, generally, 13–15 kg of magnesium sulfate are applied per mu. 1-2% epsomite salt solution was the best for topdressing (foliar spraying) at the early stage of crop growth.
For the microorganism industry, magnesium sulphate heptahydrate can be used as the composition of culture medium, the additive for brewing, and the magnesium for brewing water, which is used as the nutrient source of fermentation.
