Sodium Sulfate Powder Market

According to statistics, there are about 20 manufacturers of mineral sulfate powder nationwide, with a production capacity of over 10 million tons. There are more than 50 manufacturers of by-product sodium sulfate in China, with an output of around 3 million tons. In addition, the global market transaction report for sodium sulfate trading shows that in 2017, China exported 3.21 million tons of sodium sulfate, accounting for about 70% of the global transaction volume. China continues to be the world's largest exporter of sodium sulfate.

From the 1970s to 2011, the vast majority of China's sodium sulfate production was based on the five major domestic mineral bases (Shanxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangsu, and Henan). After years of development, due to overcapacity and fierce market competition, corporate profits declined. In addition, as national environmental protection efforts continue to increase, the production of sodium sulfate from upstream mineral production enterprises in Shanxi, Sichuan, and Henan has significantly decreased. Under the condition of insufficient factory operation rates, the production of mineral sodium sulfate nationwide decreased by about 20–30% compared to the same period in 2016–2017. Affected by factors such as significant increases in coal prices, reduced production of environmental protection and governance, and increased logistics costs, the price trend of mineral and by-product sodium sulfate throughout the country has continued to rise, with prices rising by about 50% year-on-year in 2016.
