Ferrosilicon

Ferrosilicon is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is a kind of ferrosilicon alloy which is made of coke, steel scrap, quartz (or silica) by electric furnace smelting. Since silicon and oxygen are easy to synthesize silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steel making. At the same time, a large amount of heat is released during the formation of SiO2, which is beneficial to increase the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as additive of alloy elements, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is often used as reducing agent in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.
