In factories. Dicalcium phosphate is made through the process of treating phosphate rock with nitric acid.

The process for the production of dicalcium phosphate involves three main steps which include

*Phosphate rock digestion

*Deflourination process

*Neutralization process

First. Phosphate rock is digested using concentrated sulfuric acid. Additives are added to the solution to ensure fluorine is

retained, and to allow for the growth of calcium sulfate crystal as well as maximize dissolution of phosphate. After the digestion process. the solution is filtered and the mother liquor is sent to the next step. which is called deflourination.

Second. Deflourination involves the addition of sodium salt or potassium to the mother liquor to produce a fluorine salt precipitate.

The third step is the neutralization process. Here a solution containing mainly weak phosphoric acid is neutralized to produce dicalcium phosphate product, which then undergoes filtration to produce dicalcium phosphate which is then dried.
