As high purity MgO, it is mainly used in waste water treatment, flue gas desulfurization, fuel additives, or brake lining.

In water treatment, it can provide a alkaline condition to inhibit the generation of acid.

In the flue gas desulfurization industry, it is used to remove sulfur oxides. And also, the end product, magnesium sulphate can be used as fertilizer. This is an environmentally friendly and efficient desulfurizer.

For brake lining, magnesium oxide 94% is an important component in friction material formulations, is typically added to adjust the friction coefficient to desirable values in brake pads and brake linings. Caustic calcined or dead-burned magnesia products can be used, depending on the specific application and friction material composition.

For fuel additives, magnesium oxide 94% is used in the production of fuel and lubricant additives and specifically in the production of over-based magnesium sulphonates and carboxylates, which serve as ash and corrosion management detergents (capture and pacification of vanadium, nickel, and sulphur compounds) in gas turbines and motors.
