For civil engineering, Due to its high capacity to absorb water through a hydration reaction that transforms magnesium oxide into magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2). In addition, both of them have the capacity to stabilize and regulate the rheological properties of various suspensions, mainly those that contain bentonite. These types of suspensions are used in order to improve the soil coherence in specific civil engineering applications such as tunnels (wall stabilization), road construction, and drilling muds.
