erroboron is an alloy of boron and iron. The following is a brief introduction of ferroboron properties:
1. According to the carbon content, ferroboron can be divided into low carbon (C ≤ 0.05% - 0.1%, 9% - 25% B) and medium carbon (C ≤ 2.5%, 4% - 19% B). Ferroboron is a strong deoxidizer and boron additive in steelmaking. The most important role of boron in steel is to replace a large number of alloy elements with a very small amount of boron, and to improve the mechanical properties, cold deformation properties, welding properties and high temperature properties.
2. Adding 0.07% B to the steel can significantly improve the hardenability of the steel. The addition of boron to 18% Cr and 8% Ni stainless steel can make precipitation hardening and improve high temperature strength and hardness. In cast iron, boron will affect graphitization, thus increasing the depth of white mouth to make it hard and wear-resistant. Adding 0.001% - 0.005% boron into malleable cast iron is advantageous to form nodular graphite and improve its distribution. At present, low aluminum and low carbon ferroboron are the main raw materials of amorphous alloys.
3. Mainly used in steel and cast iron. For alloy structural steel, spring steel, low alloy high strength steel, heat-resistant steel, stainless steel, etc. Boron can improve toughness and wear resistance in cast iron, and is widely used in automobile, tractor and machine tool manufacturing.
