Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate Fertilizer Grade
Introduce

Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate provides magnesium for plants. Magnesium is an important component of chlorophyll. The experiment with rice showed that the chlorophyll content of functional leaves in Mg-free and Mg-deficient treatments decreased by 92.4% and 36.7%, respectively, and the photosynthetic rate decreased by 37.5% and 20.6%, respectively, compared with that in normal treatments. It is reported that the net assimilating power of barley leaves is equal to zero when the concentration of magnesium in barley leaves is less than 0.12 mg kg1 (fresh weight).

Description:

The soil's low magnesium content is the main reason for magnesium deficiency. Poor-quality or depleted soil lacks proper nutrients, which can limit a plant's ability to absorb magnesium effectively. Adding organic matter to the soil can improve soil structure and increase the soil's magnesium content. This can be achieved by using compost, animal manure, or other organic materials.

Another reason for magnesium deficiency in plants is the presence of high levels of other minerals such as potassium, calcium, and sodium in the soil. These minerals compete with magnesium for absorption by plant roots, leading to magnesium deficiency. To balance the soil's mineral content, a soil test should be conducted to determine the mineral levels and appropriate fertilizers applied to replenish the soil's magnesium content.

The pH level of the soil can also affect the availability of magnesium to plants. Soil with a pH level below 6.0 tends to inhibit magnesium absorption by the plant roots. Soil with low pH levels can be corrected by adding fine limestone shavings, dolomite lime, or wood ashes to neutralize the acid, improving magnesium availability.

Finally, plant stress factors such as drought, frost damage, or high temperatures can exacerbate magnesium deficiency in plants. During these times, plants are less efficient at absorbing magnesium from the soil, leading to deficiency symptoms. Providing good watering practices, such as mulching or adequate irrigation, can counteract the effects of stress on plants and encourage normal growth and magnesium absorption.
